Navigating the Ties That Shape Us – A Mental Health Summit on Relationships
Join us for the 2024 Mental Health Summit, a four-day virtual event designed to explore the complexities of relationships for those working in the adult industry. This year’s summit, led by presenter Laura Desiree, will focus on how content creators navigate various types of relationships, from romantic partnerships to self-relationship.
Each day will feature a 60-minute presentation hosted by a mental healthcare professional followed by a 60+ minute panel discussion. The panel discussion with be moderated by Laura Desiree with expert panelists from within the industry. The summit will dive deep into the challenges and opportunities faced by creators in managing their personal and professional relationships while maintaining mental wellness.
Presented by Laura Desiree
Laura Desiree, based in New York City, is an Adult Industry Expert, Certified Intimacy Coordinator, Pleasure Educator, and Activist. With over a decade of experience, she has been a prominent figure in producing and presenting content tailored for adult viewership. Her work ranges from live-event immersive experiences to television and web broadcasting, blending investigative journalism with entertainment.
Within the realm of adult content creation, Laura has spearheaded initiatives aimed at enhancing earning opportunities and improving working conditions. She has also provided consultancy services to individuals and corporations, advocating for a redefined narrative of success in Sex Work.
Laura’s impressive portfolio includes a 7-year tenure as a producer and presenter for NakedNews, hosting and producing Red Umbrella Talk, serving as lead brand strategist for the sex work marketing agency PS: Group, hosting series podcasts for Cam4 and ManyVids productions, and serving as a regular project consultant for the Museum of Sex in both New York and Miami.

Being your Best Self in Romantic Relationships presented by Tess Kilwein
As part of Pineapple Support’s 5th Annual Mental Health Summit, Navigating the Ties that Shape Us, Being your Best Self in Romantic Relationships will focus on defining romantic relationships and why they matter. Types of romantic relationships and different relationship orientations (e.g., monogamy, non-monogamy) will be reviewed. Common challenges faced by romantic relationship partners (e.g., infidelity, jealousy) and strategies to improve romantic relationships (e.g., intimacy, communication) will be presented.
Finally, the intricacies of romantic relationships in the adult industry while maintaining mental wellness will be discussed.
Dr. Kilwein (name/she/they/Dr.) is a board-certified clinical psychologist licensed to practice in California, Colorado, Tennessee, Wyoming, and all PSYPACT ® states. They specialize in treating trauma/PTSD, chemical and behavioral addictions, sexual concerns, masculinity, mental performance, and transgender/gender expansive concerns. Dr. Kilwein incorporates feminist, multicultural, and liberation therapy techniques throughout their work with clients of all identities. They consider themself an LGBTQIA2S+ and polyamory/consensual non-monogamy co-conspirator, offering inclusive systemic sex therapy to those of all gender/sexuality/relationship identities and behavioral health evaluations, letters, and referrals for those seeking gender affirming medical care access.

Family Ties: Navigating Relationships in the Adult Industry presented by Jasmine Johnson
In this workshop, we will explore the complexities of family relationships within the adult industry, blending the unique perspectives of an adult performer and a licensed therapist.
Participants will engage in discussions about the evolving meaning of family, addressing the challenges and strengths of maintaining familial connections while navigating industry demands. This session aims to provide insights on fostering mental wellness and support within these relationships.

Work Friends (with Benefits): How to Create and Maintain Professional Relationships with Colleagues presented by Nigel Cook
Professional workplace dynamics are essential for creating safe, enjoyable, and empowering experiences within the adult entertainment industry. However, sometimes personal relationship dynamics can bleed into our workspace, potentially resulting in unprofessional behaviours, blurred boundaries, and unnecessary conflicts.
This webinar offers practical solutions for how to create and maintain professional workplace dynamics using open communication, self-regulation, and boundary setting techniques. Specifically, the presentation will highlight some concrete strategies for holding yourself and your peers accountable. The presentation will also include a panel discussion where performers will share their perspectives on how they have navigated the industry and offer their own tips and tricks for their peers.
Nigel believes sexuality should be celebrated, and he provides a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to freely explore and embrace it. In his practice, he works collaboratively with clients to develop sexual communication skills, process shame, and promote safer, more pleasurable experiences. Nigel has extensive experience with diverse clients, including LGBTQ+ individuals, femmes, sex workers, and those discovering their sexuality later in life. With over a decade of experience, he specializes in helping survivors of sexual violence reclaim their sense of self and navigate how trauma may impact relationships and identity. His passion lies in guiding people to find clarity within chaos.

Curating a life of emergent wellness presented by Doc – L.A. McCrae and Tanisha A. McCrae
In this workshop, participants will be invited to consider ways to increase solid, stable, secure connections as they seek authentic, right alignment.
Workshop participants will learn several tools to increase a healthier relationship with themselves as they engage and interact with the web of social relationships that lead and guide our lives and primary emotional attachment bonds.
Throughout the duration of this highly interactive space, participants will have opportunities to engage, create, reflect, and share.
Dr. L A “Doc” McCrae (Doc/He/They) is a licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor, certified peer recovery specialist, recovery coach, and carceral epidemiologist. Doc holds advanced certifications in navigating the challenges of complex PTSD. Doc is a Focusing Oriented Therapist (FOT), bibliotherapist, and training as a Gottman couples therapist and sandblast therapist. They are committed to the individual and collective liberation that comes as a result of digging deep to address the traumas and head trash that hold us back. As a Pisces, Doc is always ready to “go deep” and directly confront the pain that keeps us out of alignment with our best. Doc is a neurodivergent, Black, queer, trans, non-binary man with lived experience of addiction, recovery, trauma and PTSD.
Tanisha A. McCrae (she/her/hers) is a mental health professional who specializes in working with women, queer individuals, and couples navigating the waters of trauma and addiction. Tanisha has spent several years as a crisis clinician who holds space for individuals seeking to confront their biggest life challenges. Tanisha has directed state-wide programs for at-risk youth, young people who run away from home, and survivors of intimate partner violence. Tanisha is a Black, queer woman with lived experience that guides her passion and work with clients.
